Day thirteen. Goog’s Track 14.7.26

Well, today is a first! We opted to stay for another day (assuming it’s not raining and yuk.)

I arose about 7.10, having successfully resisting the need to wee at 4:30am.

Started the fire with no paper and then sat around and chatted. Mary M was up and about and we had a cuppa before breakfast this am. There was a sprinkle of rain, but nothing to change our plans to stay another day.
Solar panels back up to charge batteries for the fridge.

Some collections of wood.

A LOT of sitting around relaxing.

Just standing and sitting around the fire.

After late breakfast all around , Col stoked the fire again so they could cook a silverside.

Phil and Stef tackled Phil and Mary’s brake controller, which hasn’t been working properly since the Sandy Blight Junction trip last year. After first hypothis was discounted, they decided to swap my controller and theirs – this will determine (tomorrow) if it’s a controller unit issue or wiring or something specific to their vehicle.
Evidently my car was a bit of a mess, as the dash has to be removed to allow access to the controller.

Lunch of leftover roast meat and veg went down a treat. Some in sangas, some in wraps and mine in a sandwich thin, then heated in Mary and Phil’s sandwich maker.

Lunch.

Dishes done again and more relaxing around a burbling fire.

The day is quite warm, flies a little annoying (fly nets donned by a few) and it’s a relief when the sun goes behind a cloud. We are all pleasantly surprised to have the weather so warm.

I finally got around to replacing the diaphragm and gasket in the lowboy pump tap on the van which has been leaky for ages – with oversight and advice from Stef and Phil.

Then it was time for afternoon tea of scones in the camp oven and billy tea. They were amazing – so soft and high. Extremely satisfying and hard to stop at one…or two. Thanks for Mary Morgan for the most part.

Me making billy tea.

Afterwards we sat around a bit before heading off on a walk in several different directions.

Today we actually had 10 vehicles drive past along the track, after having NO traffic at all yesterday- which we were really surprised by.

Before tea time we held our 3rd Test of the Goog’s track Finska Ashes. Gold to me, Silver to Phil and Bronze to Stef, with all others striking out.

Another mild night with cloud cover keeping it warmer and very little breeze. Does put paid to stargazing though!
