Day one. Cold, wet and away! 2.6.26

We got away at 10:30 from my house and assumed our convoy down the freeway.

Skipped weigh bridge and headed West through Melbourne, heavy traffic and plenty of rain.
We gathered again at Ballan Service centre, had lunch and made some definite plans.

The sun popped out through the rain at Beaufort.

Lambs were gambolling in the paddocks and they always bring a smile to the dial.
Wind farms turning endlessly, despite the rain, were trying to poke through to the sun.
There were some blue skies appearing at various times.
We passed the turn off to Rapunyup on the right which made me think of Jaz, Andy and newly arrived Archer.
As we neared our destination, Murtoa, the sun snuck through over the crops.

Blue skies and sun over the crops near.

Our caravan park has lakeside views across Lake Marma and there was a perfect rainbow to greet us.

Camp at Murtoa Caravan and Cabins.

Jason assisted us to our sites and suggested the pizzas at the pub for tea.
We set up camp (in no rain) then ran some repairs on my hitch cover – thanks to the team.

Off to the pub opposite the train station.

Murtoa Train Station. Now a museum. The Overland between Melbourne and Adelaide passes through but doesn’t stop. Two goods trains went by while we were at the pub.

Drinks and pizza at the bar.

The pizza was amazing. Such a good thin crust, quality toppings and no dripping fat. We were all very very impressed.

Home to heater in van and electric blanket, a shower before bed and ready for whatever tomorrow brings.

Bed, with heater heating.
