Prologue.
An outback trip has been on the cards for a few months. We had a ‘meeting’ to find a common slot in all our schedules – mainly between overseas trips for some and other commitments.
The a slot was late June into July. The original aim was a trip to finish the tail end of the Madigan Line and head south to Birdsville and out to the Boulia Camel and Pig Races. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has other plans. Floods and rains out there have filled the Eyre Creek stymying our return to Birdsville.
Now we are looking for anywhere ‘not wet’ and will initially head west towards Ceduna and Googs Track in South Australia.
Leaving has been delayed till 2nd July and plans are FLEXIBLE.
The Camping crew this trip are:
Meg and Stef – stoked to welcome Meg back to the crew – thanks to her recent resignation she can make it!
Mary and Col
Mary and Phil
Me.
Steve is a late withdrawal due to some of our timelines not quite working for him.
I’ve been slack on the photos at trip meetings so not much to show.
Here’s some pre work I carried out on the TVan.
I had discovered that not all gas bottles are the same, so the front of the TVan needed some adjustments. I also wanted to repaint the bar at the back which was looking a bit second hand.

While we were at it, Stef and Phil did a bit of planning to change to a lithium battery set up in my van. New materials were ordered.

While doing that work Stef advised that he thought the underneath of the van needed some attention. This required a clean and a few coats of bitumenised paint.

Stef did an amazing job of the new electrics. Will definitely need them to run the electric blanket – as I think this will be a chilly trip.
Thanks to Phil too for all his work and support along the way and to Steve for providing some of the parts.
Here’s the finished Electricals and gas bottles neatly away in their slightly altered positions.

All packed and ready to roll on.
