Suzie’s Whirlwind 75th Birthday Tour. Day one: January 4 2025.

Lying in bed after a big Day 1 of Aunty Suzie’s Whirlwind 75th Birthday extravaganza. Here’s a brief rundown and some more pics of the day ( arvo/evening really) at Crown Towers.

We checked in, cracked a bottle of champers, had a swim, then returned to our rooms and found we had a leaking loo in mine and Bronwyn’s room. We reported it, got a phone call to tell us Aunty Suzie got a complimentary bottle of champers so we joined them in their room during our drink, we received a call from Keith for us to pack up as they needed us to move rooms. Bron and I quickly packed and then waited and waited.

Eventually moved up in the world. From level 5 to 27 (not too shabby and a massively better view.)

Suzie and Hayley came up to finish the bottle and we quickly got ready for a fancy dinner at Nobu (pretty amazing food) then a quick walk along Southbank to warm up, watch the gas go off at Crown and then back for sleep.

When we returned to room and tidied up Bronwyn realised that in our rush to leave level 5 she had left her prescription goggles and swim cap in the pocket of her robe. She rang customer service to report them lost.
I had inadvertently kept one of the 514 room keycards and thought it would be worth checking our old room. PERHAPS the room key might work, PERHAPS they wouldn’t have serviced the room yet. So Bronwyn went down with room keys in hand.
She came back in luck. Both things were true. Got into the room and robe still there, with cap and goggles. Lucky lucky break.

PS – Friday arvo I travelled with Sue, Sam and Donna to see Sister Act, preceded by a casual relaxed dinner in DeGraves Lane at Cafe Andiamo followed by a ‘Only Sue can shop like that’ hit in Myer. I think Sue landed a dress and two pairs of pants.

Sister Act was enjoyable (not a stand out-but cast were all strong.) Then Sam kindly dropped me off to Bronwyn’s in South Melbourne – ready for the kick off on Saturday.
