Madi’s Manoeuvres. Mt. Mary to Moolooloo. Day 3 – 3 June 2024.

A beautiful sunrise to welcome in the frosty morning. The pub and house were beautiful in the bruised colours of the sky.

My Mary Hotel in the sunrise.
Frosty morning
Frosty corner of my swag. I was warm and toasty inside.

Cleaning my teeth under the tree, I spied a beautiful bunch of gum nuts, and a bunch with some flowers on it. The birds had obviously chewed them off. The colours of both the nuts and the flowers were stark against the leaf litter. Col identified it was Eucalyptus Torquata.

Departure before 9:30am!

A quick stop at Burra for some last minute shopping for some – groceries and boots and bakery. Then out the Barrier Highway to take some pics of Midnight Oil’s Diesel and Dust Album Cover.

Peterborough to fuel up both vehicles and bodies.

Quick loo stop at Hawker.

Then we headed for our destination Moolooloo Station – Willagon camp.

We saw stacks of Wallabies/Roos etc. it is a 4wd track into the homestead and then another 10km or so into the campsite. Well worth spending a few days another time.

We arrived at camp Willagon – about 4:45 – which we get to ourselves as we are a big group with an eco loo – a long drop that doesn’t stink.

We had thought we might do a roast but late arrival precluded that. So we assumed usual camp etiquette:
1. Gloves on and collect firewood
2. Set the fire going
3. Set up camps/enjoy some nibbles
4. Start prepping dinner
5. Sit around the fire

Some discussions about where next tomorrow as there is some rain coming across desert area which could disrupt the plans.

Then boil the billy for a cuppa tea before more sitting by the fire, before bed.

Cuppa tea and fire.
