‘T’ minus one and counting. 7 March 2023

Well the lists are well thumbed and ticked.

The lists

I had plans for a chill day. Jobs to do included – Activate Aus Post SIM and Flexiroam data pack, clean out fridges and visit a couple of people with some last minute updates, attend the AGM of Rail Trail at 5pm. Sounds simple huh?

Out of bed and started first day of leave with a walk along the Rail Trail to check out some work that’s been done for us by our friends at Energy Australia.

We have been lucky to have had some artistic photographic sculptures installed recently by artist Juan Rodriguez Sandoval in a project sponsored by a Latrobe Regional Gallery. We’ve also had some major works completed by Energy Australia’s Mine crew – addressing some long standing and serious erosion issues. I’ve also included some shots of bits and pieces from the trails Rail days – a bit of history. Then there is the natural flora and fauna. A nice start to the day.

Whilst out wandering got a text from Mary who had activated her Aus Post SIM and she was working on Flexiroam too. I made tracks for home to tackle the same.

I got the bits together and started to activate Aus Post international SIM. I had chosen this one following a tip from Barb next door. In order to keep my phone number I need to ‘port’ the number from Telstra to Aus Post, which also required me to pay the residual cost of the phone which I usually pay off over the two years -oh well, just another cost.

Mmmm. Two days??? Eek!!!

Then it started to get tricky. My Telstra service was cut off and bill for phone arrived but no service from Aus Post – ah shite, why is it never straightforward?

So to the computer to google help. Computer now not connecting to Internet. No phone, no computer. Great!!!

Eventually after a call to Aus Post, some deep breathing and logical thinking I got Aus Post SIM in and working. Next is Flexiroam activation. This also proved a bit tricky but got there in the end.

Then I began troubleshooting the computer. Nothing was working. Reset the modem. No luck. Then tried the Telstra APP which indicated I still had internet service. A restart and troubleshooting of the modem identified an issue with the NBN and modem.

While I was waiting for the remote troubleshooting to happen I moved to the next job on the list – clean out the fridge.

Emptied contents.

Finally, thanks to the Telstra App and remote troubleshooting

Finally.

Finished the fridge and had a little time to start this post and it was soon time to head off for Rail Trail AGM. Now home and defrosting the other fridge – it’s older than me and still going – but has grown a solid block of ice around the ice tray section.

We are catching the 2.44 train from Moe and it’s really happening.

So tomorrow it’s up and out for haircut and then absolute final pack, then lock and load. The excitement builds…till next time. Hooroo.
