The current 2023 trip, has been a long time in the planning. Myself and 3 mates are heading for Antarctica and South America.

We awoke sailing up the Penola Strait at 3 degrees with an overcast sky. Heading for Yalour Islands. A fairly calm trip overnight, but did take a seasick tablet as the ship was moving about a bit. Photography boats are being called for so we have our names down, hoping for Richard today. We meet

Overnight we sailed from Horseshoe Island within the Antarctic Circle to Prospect Point which is a landing on the Antarctic continent as opposed to Antarctic Islands. A delightful sleep. We are all weary and falling asleep in lectures etc, so it was needed. Awoke to a very calm rolling sea, on the ships front camera there was a bit of sunrise colour so I threw on some clothes and went wandering. Found the last bit of ship I hadn’t seen which

A swirly night, a fair bit of movement- sleep was a bit hard to manage. We have taken our seasick pills and so far, so good. Feel queasy but not sick. Managed a shower with the rocking and rolling of the ship. Then down for breakfast and then readied for some bird photography up on

Awoke early, to a delightful sunrise with a few more clouds this morning, after and short and fitful sleep (brain working overtime). Breaky, pack gear for a full day out with ‘Canal’ Trekking and canoeing. Pick up time was 8.30, onto a bus with about 10 others plus guides and driver. We headed for Parque

Woke to the view of sun rising behind the hills. I certainly woke this morning feeling sun par – quite woozy and yuk. Upstairs for breaky – quite a good spread – amazing views out across the Beagle Channel. Mary and Phil needed to wash, I closed the eyes on the bed for a while.
