Awesome African Adventure. Day 2-April 10, 2025

Dubai.

Showered and settled into rooms at Radisson Blu. our room looks like exploding bumblebees.

Our keys didn’t work so down to breaky we went and got our cards sorted.

Then we headed out into the warmth of Dubai to walk the almost 5km to The Green Planet – an indoor rainforest. We walked and walked.

We walked around the Lake and base of Burj Khalifa and passed the Dubai Mall. We seemed to detour around many construction sites as the day got warmer.

We arrived to a square box shaped building that housed The Green Planet, sat in the outside area for a cool drink and Tropical Sno for Mary and Phil. The place was looking a bit twee and kid oriented.

In we went and were sent to level 4 to work our way down. It was much better than we were all expecting. Lots of birds and critters. The birds flying free and many critters free to roam as well.

There was also a lot of other animals in enclosures.

The whole place was based around a man made Capok tree which housed birds, plants and critters.

We wound our way down four levels around the tree. Then there were another couple of levels below ground. Even some Aussie critters – echidna and flying foxes.

After that we caught a cab to the Dubai Mall for a bite to eat before and an Uber back to hotel to pick up power banks for now nearly dead phones.

A quick turnaround to cab back to the Burj Khalifa for the ‘At the Top’ experience.

A long queue to get in/up and a long queue to get down and out. Some fabulous views. The sun was setting in the hazy dust over the city.

We are all pretty knackered we’ve walked and stood a LOT.

Returning to ground level we found an outdoor table at Carlucci’s for tea and were treated to several viewings of the famous Dubai Fountain Show and a light show on the Burj Khalifa – both spectacular.

We’ve been awake since 5am Dubai time on top of whatever sleep we got on the 13 hour flight. So we reckon we should sleep well tonight.
