Suzie’s Whirlwind 75th Birthday Tour. January 4-9 2025.

PREFACE.

Emails started flying from Cousin Hayley and Uncle Keith in late September. Aunty Sue was oblivious as she was traipsing around the ‘Stans’ at the time.

Hayley and Keith were plotting an experience for Suzie (Aunty,) Hayley (Cousin,) Bronwyn (Sister) and I to mark Suzie’s 75th year. (January was proposed and locked in as Suzie is travelling for her actual birthday in May)

With dates set and leave applied for Keith and Hayley having formulated the plan, we were set. Here’s the original email.

So Keith has been doing some scheming and has hatched a plan for Mum’s 75th next year. But before we go any further, need to know if you guys are up for this.

Dates are only a suggestion and totally up for discussion, although we do have to work within the S&K travel windows. 

Saturday Jan 4th – stay at Crown

Sunday Jan 5th – 9.00am flight to Sydney economy with Virgin 
Overnight in Sydney – at an airport hotel so it’s easy the following morning because we would have to be at the airport by 7am at the latest.

Monday Jan 6th – 8.45am flight Sydney to Christchurch Emirates BUSINESS CLASS in A380
Overnight in Christchurch

Tuesday 7th – 1.00pm flight Christchurch to Auckland economy with Air NZ, arrive 2.25pm
2 nights in Auckland

Thursday Jan 9th – 2.20pm flight Auckland to Melbourne economy with Air NZ, arrive 4.20pm 

There might be a later flight we could take if we wanted a little bit more time in Auckland – would need to check.

Cost – Uncle Keith has got all air fares and hotel accommodation covered (his words).

All meals, taxis etc at travellers expense.

Yes, it’s a whirlwind trip but we think that might be half the fun – just a mad few days.

So, thoughts and do these dates work? If not, let’s talk calendars….and of course, at this stage Sue doesn’t know a thing about this.

Suzie returned home and the plot was shared.

Keith was travel agent and did an outstanding job of wrangling all the details and setting things up, ably supported by Hayley. The other three of us just had to pack and turn up on time!!!
