So ready to roll and out the school gate about 8:30. The sun shining on Flinders Ranges this morning really highlights their craggy rugged rocky composition.

Almost collected an emu this morning – definitely got the heart started for the day, I reckon it was about 50 cm from my bull bar.
The colours again captured my attention- the morning light with sunshine and clear skies lends itself to wanting to take photos- but we are really heading home now and have to get kilometres under our belt. I can fully understand why the artists are captivated by the Flinders Ranges.

Quick pit stop at Orroroo, then a fuel stop for the Troopy at Peterborough.
At one point today we turned left behind 6 vehicles – weird and felt like Bourke Street compared to the past couple of weeks. And there must have been a square hay bale sale as we encountered several utes full of big squares.
Enjoyed listening to Tim Jarvis on Conversations with Sally Sara on ABC radio – he recreated the journey of Sir Ernest Shackleton and shared both his and Shackleton’s story.
Early lunch at Burra.

Then onwards with not much to remark on.

Steve stopped to euthanise a dead roo. Weird thing happened – as I was approaching roadkill on the opposite side of the road, I had a small truck and a big truck coming towards me, Little truck swerved out around the dead roo and the big truck was directly behind and ran straight over dead kangaroo, when I looked in rear vision mirror silhouette showed the kangaroo sitting up weirdly. That’s what Steve and Stef saw and thought it was still alive and bravely stopped to do the right thing. Thankfully it was already dead and Steve dragged it off the road, rather than euthanising.
It’s been a nice day weatherwise with sun shining and mostly clear blue skies.
We pulled into Mildura and Mary picked out a nice Caravan Park for us at Apex River Beach CP.

They sustained major damage in the floods and we had brand new amenities block and camp kitchen.
We tried to visit Fosseys Distillery for pre dinner drinks but they no longer have a shop front in Mildura. So filled up with fuel and off to Brewery Pub for tea followed by dessert at ice cream shop.

It’s very cold here tonight, so it was home and hot water bottles and bed by about 10pm.
