Up and at em earlier – breaky at 6:45am and we were first there.
Pick up by Alex at 8am for our 9:55 flight to Jeju Island, an island at the south of South Korea.
The picture window this morning was overcast as rain is forecast here in Busan, but should be clear by the time we hit Jeju.
Traffic was pretty thick in places. One point we had five lanes merge to one, with vehicles inches apart.

A little time waiting at the airport with possible weather delay that didn’t eventuate. Poor Susie had a coffee spill at gate lounge – the man behind moved the seat which knocked a full large coffee over, thankfully mostly on the floor. A little on Susie and Suzie’s case. People were so helpful, one lady found the cleaner, the poor man who knocked it came with a huge handful of paper towels, another with napkins. All good and so helpful.
Flight pulled back on time. Some rain. We saw US and Korean Military planes. The aerial view shows once the abundance of hothouses, high rises and hillsides (well mountains really but hillsides is alliterative).

Quickly up above the clouds with blue skies with a 40 minute fly time, a Mandarin juice was partaken.
Touch down at 10:50. Overcast.
Some airport toilet spam.

Jeju is a volcanic island.
Jeju noodles (Gogigukso) for lunch – similar to Ramen with pork broth and pieces of pork – lots of fat on the pork which we pulled off and Alex thinks we don’t like pork. They love the fat-.

Jeju is the island, the province and it’s the main city – Jeju-si – located in the North. Jeju island has the highest Mtn 1950m in Sth Korea. We are staying in Seojwipo which is in the South.

RF. San =mountain in Sth Korea. Mt Hallisan is in the centre of Jeju.
RF. Jeju Is. is about 80km East to West and 40km North to South.
Going south west today.
Visited Ossulloc Tea house and tea fields. Very much a tourist spot. Tea fields are lovely to look at, then they had lots of tea related product, food and cosmetics for purchase. Struck me as a tourist ripoff. The cosmetic brand is Innisfree.

Back to the coast for a cruise or pine the coastline. A bit of sea mist or clouds and fog hanging about, which prevents clear photos.

I had the big lens so chased some shots of the birds.

The guide was speaking only Korean and to me it sounded like he was running an auction. Fair dinkum he didn’t shut up from go to woe and it was loud through the loudspeakers.
We learnt on return that the rocks like Giant’s Causeway is Dragon Head Rocks. The two small rock islands called Hyeongjeseom.

Then we asked to visit a supermarket for toothpaste and had a look around. The tubes were too big so will try for a bigger supermarket tomorrow.
Onto the hotel – Grand Josun. It’s like a resort hotel. Lots of space, pools, music etc. The staff are lovely and the rooms are spacious and swanky. Balcony overlooking the pool and out to see.

We let Alex go, with the intention of walking to a nearby set of a few restaurants.
I needed to do something re a package at the Post Office so used the hotel business centre before we headed out for a walk and early meal.
There is a ‘Nice to CU’ convenience store attached to hotel so Suzie and I went looking while Susie M consulted with the concierge.
We ended up cabbing it to a local bar – South Bounder. Reasonably priced drinks and we shared a salad and two delicious pizzas. Nice staff too. Ate with a novel knife and fork, firstly it wasn’t chopsticks and a spoon and secondly the handles were spanners.

Then home to hotel – into Nice to CU for Pepsi, toothpaste and some Biscoff biccies.

Now for shower, washing and finalise this blog and photos and attempt bed before midnight.
